DOZENS OF PROPANE TANKS STOLEN FROM 3 KANSAS CITY METRO

DOZENS OF PROPANE TANKS STOLEN FROM 3 KANSAS CITY METRO LOCATIONS

Hopefully, most of us are aware of the large amount of cell phone purchases from area Walmarts in Missouri.

Between the cell phone purchases and, now, a large number of propane tanks that have been stolen from several businesses in Independence and Lee’s Summit, Missouri, people are wondering about the danger of terrorist attacks in our area.

In November, a BP gas station in Lee`s Summit reported 18-20 propane tanks stolen from the outside cages. That same night the CVS on Southwest 3rd Street reported the exact same crime.

In December, the CVS on East 23rd Street in Independence had 28 tanks stolen.

The FBI says it’s up to law enforcement to investigate. They aren’t particularly concerned because the use of propane tanks wouldn’t be a terrorist's tool of choice, plus stealing them would attract too much attention.

The FBI isn't saying much about the purchases and thefts, but they encourage the public to keep their eyes open and report anything suspicious.
